3. Accuracy of Information

All information on this website is general information and does not constitute advice – while believed to be accurate, information here may in fact be incorrect, out of date (despite our efforts), or inaccurate to some degree. Astro Dog does not represent or warrant its accuracy, adequacy or completeness.  Astro Dog is not responsible for any loss suffered as a result of or in relation to the use of information on our website.  To the extent permitted by law, Astro Dog excludes any liability, including any liability for negligence, for any loss, including indirect or consequential damages arising from or in relation to the use of this website, including our blog service.  Astro Dog recommends seeking advice from a qualified expert about issues affecting you before acting on any matter.  We can’t accept responsibility if a product doesn’t meet your expectations or you’ve made a wrong purchase decision.  We rely on manufacturers for specifications.  Sometimes, they just aren’t exactly right.  Be aware of that, and that we have made them available in good faith.

4. Blog and Blog Content

The “accuracy of information” clause applies to any blog and editorial content.  Information presented on the blog as provided for entertainment and/or general informational purposes only and shouldn’t be seen as professional advice – Do not rely on our blog content, even if labelled “advice” when making a decision.  If you do, we can’t be held liable.  While some information in a blog is seen as helpful by some, it might not be right for you, and other experts may disagree.  We always recommend getting a wide range of professional advice, including your local astronomy club, before acting on anything you read in our blog.  Be aware a blog has ever changing content and can include conversations and content.   The blog is sponsored by Astro Dog and may promote products and services offered by Astro Dog.  Sponsorship of the blog may influence the opinions, content, topics or posts made in the blog.  We reserve the rights to change how we manage or run the blog and may change the focus or content of the blog at any time.  Note that people can contribute and leave comments on our blogs.  Despite our efforts to prevent negative experiences, comments or the links seen may be upsetting, distasteful, or try to get you to go to unsafe places on the internet.  We will not be held liable for such comments or links.  Don’t follow links left by people in comments.

5. Product Availability

We use a stock inventory system to control when orders can be placed.  As we also sell by other platforms, it is possible though unlikely, that you buy a product we don’t have.  If that happens, we will get in touch with you and offer to either restock it if we can, or give you a refund.  If products are unavailable, it’s not Astro Dog’s responsibility, your order will simply be cancelled and you will be refunded.  If there is a backorder, and the price goes up, we will still try and fulfill it as long as the price hike isn’t deemed unreasonable us by.  If it is, we will simply refund you.

6. Ebay

To the extent allowable by law, products purchased from Ebay are bought and sold under Ebay trade policies, including return policies. and are not eligible for certain benefits afforded to customers who buy direct via the website, including the use of Astro Dog vouchers.

7. Shipping & Insurance

See the “Shipping” section under “Our Policies” tab.

8. Refunds and Returns

See the “Refunds and Returns” section under “Our Policies” tab.

9. Warranty

See the “Refunds and Returns” section for warranty information.

10. Ordering products, Online Security

Products displayed in the store constitute an invitation to treat, not an offer.  By using the checkout, you are making an offer to buy from us, which, if accepted, will result in a contract. Just submitting the form or order or finishing checkout doesn’t force us to accept your order.  We may choose to decline it for any reason.

Orders can be placed online by means of the Stripe and Paypal systems.  You can also arrange direct deposits, but these need to be done within 2 workind days of placing your order.  The payment should be your last name.  You need to be over 18.  Cases of people trying to mislead us or fake an identity will be reported to the Police.  We don’t post goods until the payment clears.

We don’t keep or process credit card information ourselves.  It’s all done via Paypal and Stripe, who compensate us.  You, as well as we, rely on paypal and Stripe to make sure the transactions are safe and secure.  We do not use our capacity to take direct credit card orders.  Keep your device up to date security-wise please before placing an order with us, and that includes good firewalls, an up to date operating system etc… Not our fault if something goes wrong while ordering online from us.

Please don’t order products from us that you can’t afford.  We don’t want you stressed out, or having family problems because of a purchase from us.

12. Privacy and Cookies

When you use our website, you agree to our “Privacy and Cookie Policy

13. Responsible use of Products

We are concerned that people may be injured by misusing equipment purchased from us.  This is serious stuff.  Invisible wavelengths from the sun can damage the retina of the eye, and in extreme cases cause complete blindness.  Do not take chances.  Astronomy is a relatively benign hobby with few chances for serious injury (back injury, tripping etc.. not withstanding), but this is one of them.  NEVER point your telescope at the sun.  Do not leave a telescope unattended, where children might do this.  While some full-aperture filters are considered safe by some, we can’t recommend any solar filters ourselves.  Don’t use welder’s filters either.  Never buy “solar filters” that go over the eyepiece, they are incredibly dangerous as they have been known to go “pop”, “crack” and then your blind.  They are illegal in Australia anyway.  You have been warned.

14. Breach of Terms

Without prejudice to Astro Dog’s other rights under these Terms of Use, if you breach these Terms of Use in any way, Astro Dog may take such action as Astro Dog deems appropriate to deal with the breach, including suspending your access to the website, prohibiting you from accessing the website, blocking computers using your IP address from accessing the website, contacting your Internet service provider to request that they block your access to the website and/or bringing legal action against you.  Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms of Use shall not constitute or be construed as a waiver of such provision or the right to enforce such provision.

15. Limitation of Liability

This website and all information, content, materials, and other services made available to you through the website are provided by Astro Dog on an “as is” basis. Astro Dog makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Astro Dog does not warrant that the website is free of viruses or other harmful components.  Astro Dog will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of any service, or from any information, content, materials, or other services made available to you through the website, including, but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, and consequential (including loss of profits) damages.  You indemnify us to the fullest extent against any and all liabilities, costs, demands, causes of action, damages and expenses arising in any way related to your breach of any of the provisions of these terms.

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed according to the laws of the State of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict of laws provisions. Any legal action relating to these Terms of Use shall be brought in a court having jurisdiction in the State of Queensland, Australia
