Shipping Terms and Conditions

Australia-Wide Shipping

We offer both standard and express shipping with Australia Post as well as various couriers for larger items.

International Shipping

International orders are dispatched via our ebay store (more country options) or this website (USA, UK, JAPAN, NZ).

Freight Adjustments

As advised at checkout, freight charges are guesstimated.  Though they usually work out, if an adjustment is required, the adjustment will need to be paid before your item/s can be dispatched.  It’s okay to cancel an order if you receive a freight price that is unreasonable.  In this case, we will cancel the order and give you a refund.

In cases where a website error calculates an incorrect price, an adjustment will need to be paid.  If you feel the charge is unreasonable, you may cancel the order without penalty.

Insurance

Do you want the extra peace of mind that it’s insured if something goes wrong with delivery?  You can add it here.  Add one unit per $100 you want insurance for (e.g. if your item is $300, add three units). We strongly suggest adding freight insurance to insure all items against damage and loss in transit. We are not responsible for loss of parcels or damage sustained by parcels as the carrier is responsible. You can read Australia Post’s policies here.  We carefully pack all items regardless.

Further Freight / Delivery Terms and Conditions

Most deliveries are made via Australia Post, Hunter Express, TNT or carriers that work with Transdirect.  They offer tracking, and we will send tracking updates sent to the email address associated with the order. You will be required to sign for the delivery to confirm proof of receipt. If you are not there when the delivery is made, you may incur further charges with some carriers (not from Astro Dog) and may need to pickup the parcel from the nearest post office or depot, or incur additional fees for redelivery.  Local couriers may be used for some orders, particularly within Brisbane and the Gold Coast.  We reserve the right to alter the selected method of shipping should we deem another option more favourable.

Some regional areas of Australia will incur higher charges than specified above at checkout, however if the shipping calculation does not seem correct, please contact us via phone or email so that we can fix the problem and raise the order for you with the correct shipping amount.

In the event of a particularly remote delivery destination or other factor which causes shipping to be underquoted, we will first contact you to confirm payment of the difference, or subsequently cancel the order if this additional cost is unreasonable. Currently we only deliver domestically within Australia, and to New Zealand, and use our eBay store for international deliveries.

You accept the terms of any couriers that we engage when shipping your order.   We take great care when packing, however you accept responsibility for any damage to items that may result from shipping.  Specifically, if the item shipped contains glass we have no liability for loss or damage to your goods.  Be careful that you track the shipment and contact the courier if you won’t be available at the time of delivery, as some couriers will charge additional fees for redelivery.

Other terms and conditions apply.  Check our privacy policy and our returns policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When will my article be posted?

A. Our orders go to the Australia Post distribution centres Tuesday Morning.  We drop off orders again Wednesday and Thursday’s orders leave Friday morning.

Q. How long will it take for me to get my item?

Australia Post delivers to many parts of Australia between 2-4 days, some parts longer.  We STRONGLY RECOMMEND the Express Delivery Option for Western Australia and Northern Territory.  Hunter Express delivery times are subject to distance, and other timeframes.

Q. Who is responsible for theft / damage / lost delivery?

We take responsibility for making sure that your item is packed and sent on time, and also provide you with a tracking number for all items.  Make sure that you are registered with Australia Post to get these sorts of alerts.  You are responsible for purchasing extra insurance before checkout is finished if that is what you want.  You are also responsible for claiming insurance on these items if something goes wrong (in fact, Australia Post insist on it) or bearing the loss if you didn’t buy insurance.  In cases where you have a bulky item that will be sent through Hunter Express, you can request a quote for indemnity insurance by writing “Contact me re. indemnity insurance” in the checkout comments.  Items will otherwise be sent without this type of insurance.  Be aware that this insurance may have certain further conditions and exclusions (for example, they won’t cover “glass”) and you accept these terms.

Q. What happens if my item does not track?

A. Articles will not track if they have not been scanned by the carrier.  It can mean that it has not been collected or sent, but it may be because the carrier has not scanned it.  We have had cases where posted articles were NOT scanned at all by Australia Post, but turned up at the expected time.  Or where we dropped an item at a Hunter Express depot, and it wasn’t scanned until the following day.  It happens.  If a tracking number is issued on a Saturday or Sunday, it will not track until Monday evening at the earliest, as that will be the next Australia Post working day.
