The Kson Mk II series telescopes are classic air-spaced, crown-and-flint, doublet achromatic f/6.8 refractors with a superior-class optical figure, due to the high quality hand ground lens, which is slow to produce, but exceptional in quality. You will be impressed by the stunning images revealed to you at the eyepiece, and all at a small fraction of the price you’d pay for a comparably sized apochromat refractor.

Designed to handle heavy use, public star parties and educational outreach, the Kson A102G comes with a heavy-duty, high quality components, including a 2″ Crayford-style focuser with metal knurled knobs, a cradle ring assembly with Vixen-style dovetail mount. The A102G’s focuser is tough as nails, with a tri-lock compression ring system, which will firmly hold even heavy accessories.

Each Kson A102G is carefully tested before it leaves the factory and the lens is high quality, hand ground – not machined.

NEW Mk II Upgrades

• Focusing knobs upgraded to 1.5″, notched metal versions which allow you easy and solid focusing!
• Most refractors have one or two screws which dig into the eyepieces / cameras.  We’ve upgraded the connector to a three screw compression ring system to securely hold heavier loadouts

Mount Included

We feature the superb Saxon EQ3 Manual Mount.

The saxon German Equatorial EQ3 Mount with Steel Tripod provides the precision and stability needed for serious observing and is great for the amateur astronomer who wants to move up to a more stable mount. It is also popular with those who would like a lightweight EQ mount for travel!  The Saxon EQ3 is built very well. The mount has ball bearings in both axes for smooth manual tracking with the included slow-motion control cables. Setting circles, also on both the RA and Dec axis, allow you to find objects the “old-fashioned” way; all you need is a good star chart with Right Ascension and Declination coordinates! No-tool set up lets you leave your screwdrivers and Allen wrenches at home.

This EQ3 mount includes a built-in holder for polar scope, a latitude adjuster with micrometer scale, an azimuth polar-alignment adjuster, aluminium setting circles, large manual slow-motion tracking controls, bubble level and steel tubular tripod legs.

There is an aluminium leg version available, but the whole point of the eq3 is to get that stability and strength, so we only carry the higher quality steel version.  Our suggestion – don’t compromise such a fine mount by using aluminum legs!

We recommend the purchase of a Meade Barlow if you havn’t already got one, to give you a full range of magnifications (5mm, 10mm, 12.5mm and 25mm).

Possible Upgrades

You can upgrade to a fine focuser if you wish for $80 more.  We recommend getting the 2″ Mirror Diagonal with a Kson 2″ 3 Element Eyepiece Pack (18mm, 25mm, 32mm included).  At time of purchase, a handy nylon or padded upgrade telescope case is also available.  Call for more details.
