Orion Zero Profile Prime Focus 2-inch Adapter

Description

This size is a must if you have a full sensor camera and you want to avoid vignetting.  This Orion adapter is a connector that lets you attach your camera (specifically an SLR or DSLR type) directly to your telescope to take photos of space (this method is called prime-focus astrophotography).   The key feature is its “zero-profile” design. This means it’s very short and adds almost no extra length between your camera and the telescope. This is important because some other adapters are bulkier and push the camera further away from the telescope’s focus point. That extra distance can sometimes make it impossible to get a sharp, clear image, especially with certain camera and telescope combinations. This adapter avoids that issue by letting your camera sit as close as possible inside the telescope’s 2-inch eyepiece holder (focuser).   To use it, you first need a separate “T-ring” that fits your specific camera model. This adapter screws onto that T-ring. Then, the whole assembly slides into any telescope focuser that accepts 2-inch accessories (common on many refractor and reflector telescopes). It also has threads so you can attach standard 2-inch filters if needed.  Essentially, it’s a handy accessory designed to help astrophotographers reliably connect their camera to a telescope with a 2-inch focuser and achieve proper focus, especially in situations where achieving focus might otherwise be difficult.
